Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

Under limited review, the Production Engineer handles production engineering assignments of a broad scope and moderate difficulty.  This position maintains producing properties at the maximum economic rate within governmental and contractual requirements.  This position is responsible for the delivery of all expected production engineering responsibilities for the assigned areas.   Works closely with reservoir engineers, geologists and field operations to optimize asset value within assigned areas. Ensures operations compliance by collaborating with HSE, Land, Regulatory and Facilities Engineering.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Monitor and review production volumes on wells utilizing Carte on a daily basis to improve production performance.
  • Exercise sound engineering judgment in planning, organizing and conducting work assignments while working alone or within a team structure.
  • Work with Reservoir Engineers on production issues and address problems with field operations personnel.
  • Create workover AFE proposal and procedures for well remediation work.
  • Provide technical and financial analysis support to field operations in efforts to control and reduce LOE on a regular basis.
  • Work closely with the field operations staff to optimize Rod Pumps, Gas Lift, ESP, and Plunger Lift wells.
  • Analyze production data in order to recommend downhole and surface configuration(s) of wells and supplementary processes to enhance production of recently completed and older wells.
  • Diagnose production enhancement opportunities and make recommendations for improving performance. Evaluate and document results.
  • Direct and monitor the evaluation of well productivity, well testing, and well optimization.
  • Write AFE proposals for production improvements and identify opportunities to lower LOE.
  • Conduct well reviews with other Production Engineers and Production Field Team on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure all work performed adheres to Company standards and is in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements
  • Track costs and review variances to budget on a regular basis by reviewing and approving invoices, costs, and price quotes.
  • Code and approve invoices related to assigned area.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or combination of related field experience and / or education.
  • At least 5 years of progressive oil and gas production engineering experience, with a focus on oil related development, in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

  • Valid driver license with no restrictions.
  • Knowledge of Carte and Wellview a plus.

  • Estimated pay range:  $130,000 – $180,000 (DOE)

*Most of the job is done in an office setting. Field travel required 20% - 30%; adverse weather conditions may exist. Variable work hours including nights and weekends.
