Operations Engineering Technician

Overview

Under limited review, the Engineering Technician provides moderately complex technical, analytical and administrative support to the Engineering staff and serves as an integral technical support member.  The Engineering Technician performs routine duties with a great deal of autonomy to provide technical support and data analysis. Additional involvement in projects may include supporting of team members in creation of technical support tools, reports and other special projects on request.

Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Analyze operational and financial data
  • Support corporate data requests
  • Assemble, extract and analyze data from various internal and external systems including Aries, Spotfire, WellView, AFE Navigator and third party well data, including state regulatory and production data
  • Assist engineers and management in the preparation of technical reports, analysis, evaluations and presentations as needed
  • Perform moderate calculations and preliminary analysis of data in support of engineering studies
  • Initiate and develop more accurate and reliable data analyses and reporting methodologies
  • Interact with all Engineering departments, Geology, Land, Regulatory, Field Personnel, and State and Federal regulatory agencies
  • Provide supporting data via research from public sources such as IHS and regulatory agencies
  • Generate monthly reports based on standard procedures to provide project performance tracking and ensure accuracy of data
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance or other technically related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Strong background in preparing job and work plans including scope, cost estimates and control, forecasting, accruals, resource availability and operational coordination
Skills & Knowledge
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word,) to manipulate and interpret data and reports
  • Strong data management skills with demonstrated ability to build, maintain and extract information from databases
  • Experience with energy industry software to include Spotfire, Aries, Wellview, AFE Navigator preferred
  • Strong analytical, numeric and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to communicate regularly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with management, coworkers, contractors and other departments
  • Ability to work well within team environment, coordinating efforts of cross-functional departments
  • Knowledge of the industry and operations
  • Ability to thrive in both an independent and collaborative work environment and have exceptional skills in managing multiple demands, including prioritizing deadlines
  • Ability to identify process improvements and utilize programming skills to enhance functionality
