HSE Supervisor

Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

The HSE Supervisor reports to the VP, Risk Management and is responsible for directing all HSE programs at the field level. This role will provide input into program development as well as focus on field implementation of the HSE programs.  This position will supervise the HSE field based staff supporting all disciplines including production operations, work overs, completions and drilling.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support, protect and promote a positive safe work environment for all employees and ensure adequate communication of safe and compliant practices to all field employees
  • Ensure Compliance with applicable OSHA, PHMSA, FMCSA, EPA, TCEQ, Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements
  • Assure regulatory submissions are completed accurately and on time
  • Coordinate annual HSE training program
  • Coordinate and deliver monthly safety meetings to employees
  • Coordinate and deliver new hire HSE orientations
  • Coach and supervise HSE field staff
  • Coach and counsel with Area Operations Manager, Foremen and Supervisors regarding HSE issues
  • Work with various contractors to assure compliance while working on Discovery locations 
  • Lead incident investigations identifying root causes
  • Participate in weekly managers meeting
  • Manage the Emergency Response plan and coordinate annual response drills
  • Lead various field based meetings (i.e. environmental spill committee)
  • Review and coach employees on JSA development/completion
  • Ensure adequacy of personal protective equipment (PPE) selected for employee use
  • Ensure the prompt and adequate treatment for injured employees and contractors
  • Assist in Incident Notification, Classification, Investigation and Reporting practices.
  • Provide guidance to managers & supervisors in proper Classification of incidents per Company and OSHA guidelines.
  • Provide proactive evaluation and guidance to operational teams on environment regulations and concerns related to any field activities
Education & Experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in an HSE role supporting onshore production oil field operations with at least 5 years in an HSE supervisory role 
  • Recognized HSE certifications (CSP, OHST, CSHO, COSS, etc.) strongly preferred
  • Associate’s degree in occupational safety preferred
  • First aid and CPR certifications required
Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulatory regulations
  • Must possess a very strong working knowledge of oil field operations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding employee and company-sensitive information
  • Comfortable in a public speaking role
  • Available to work on a 24-hour call basis
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT and other industry relevant federal and state regulations
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office
