Discovery Natural Resources LLC (DNR) is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

The Field Chemical Specialist reports to the Technical Specialist and is directly responsible for the management of the production chemical program.  The Field Chemical Specialist supervises the day-to-day operations of the chemical vendors prioritizing safety, Discovery’s core values, and production critical chemical applications.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Models and communicates Discovery’s core values and safe working expectations to all vendors working in the field.
  • Follows and supports all Discovery HSE policies.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance.
  • Responsible for hosting monthly chemical reviews with chemical vendors and the Technical Team
  • Work closely with the Technical Team to review monthly data and follow up on tasks created from monthly data reports.
  • Maintains inventory and coordinates maintenance of chemical pump equipment.
  • Ensures proper and timely chemical hookup for all new chemical applications.
  • Coordinate and maintain chemical inventory levels and application rates to make certain no wells go untreated.
  • Works directly with chemical vendors to identify and correct missed treatments.
  • Monitors automated chemical levels and pumps via SCADA.
  • Coordinates collection of fluid samples for routine and non-routine monitoring
  • Reviews monitoring data to create new chemical optimization strategies.
  • Interprets data and develops technical recommendations to ensure operations are performing at an optimal level.
  • Reviews and approves all chemical invoices.
  • Accountable for maintaining the chemical application and the chemical repair and maintenance budgets.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the physical sciences e.g., Chemistry, Biology, or other preferred. Applicants without a degree but sufficient field experience will also be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years in production or completions chemical application.
  • Oil production experience a plus.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand most oilfield flow processes.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of specialty chemical products, applications, oil and gas well equipment and the impact of chemical treatment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to manipulate and interpret data and reports.

  • Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to communicate regularly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with management, coworkers, contractors, and other departments.
  • Ability to thrive in both an independent and collaborative work environment and have exceptional skills in managing multiple demands, including prioritizing deadlines.
