Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

Under limited review, the Senior Drilling and Completions Technician provides moderately complex technical, analytical, and administrative support to the engineering staff and serves as an integral technical support member. The Senior Drilling and Completions Technician performs routine duties with a great deal of autonomy to provide technical support and data analysis for all operational activities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Participate with and assist the drilling and completions team in the management of company operations from conceptualization, through design, execution, and review/optimization.
  • Monitor the daily progress of drilling and completion well operations and current daily costs and recommend changes or improvements to work techniques.
  • Work closely with field operations, geologists, engineers, administrative staff, and external organizations to coordinate, execute, and advance all development activities. Serve as a resource to all necessary stakeholders to drive positive asset performance, leveraging experience across a broad range of drilling and completions activities.
  • Assist in the preparation of AFEs, casing designs, drilling programs, well plans, perforation and stimulation designs, clean out procedures and any other documents as required.
  • Maintain thorough and complete records of all drilling and completions related activities including planning deliverables, design inputs, post-job reports, etc.
  • Function as the primary contact for distribution, record keeping, and organization of all drilling and completions related materials for all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organize special projects related to program goals. Coordinate resources and personnel to study a diverse range of issues, make tangible learnings, and drive project success.
  • Ensure all work performed adheres to Company standards and is in compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain a work environment and culture focused on responsible stewardship of environmental and community resources as well as safety excellence.
  • Work with regulatory and land teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting in compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain all necessary cost and performance tracking databases for use in ongoing analytics.
  • Assist senior team personnel in preparation and review of procurement documentation and ongoing appraisal of all drilling and completions related equipment and services.
  • Review and approve invoices for all services. Maintain consistent, accurate accounting of well costs.
  • Assist management with the maintenance of consistent and accurate capital spending accruals on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the creation of drilling and completions related presentation material.
  • Participate in continuing education classes related to drilling and completions/drilling as necessary to lead industry best practice and new technologies as a thought leader.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive oil and gas experience preferred.
  • Experience in well construction design, directional drilling, rig operations, logging, cementation, stimulation design/ops, logistics, cased-hole wireline, wellbore cleanout, and/or fishing is positive.

  • Strong computer skills are necessary to perform job duties. Experience with Excel VBA, WellView, Aries, Spotfire, Sequel, and/or Compass preferred.

  • Ability to travel to field locations on short notice and/or for extended periods as necessary.
  • Valid driver license and good driving record.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated pay range:  $88,000 – $120,000 (DOE)
