Business Development Engineering Technician

Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

Under limited review, the Business Development Engineering Analyst provides moderately complex technical, analytical, and administrative support to the Engineering staff and serves as an integral technical support member.  The Business Development Engineering Analyst performs routine duties with a great deal of autonomy to provide technical support and data analysis for acquisition opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist in evaluation of potential property acquisitions by providing support to engineers and generating Aries cashflows and online data for analysis. Integrate new acquisitions in Aries DB, capture original acquisition DB and economics in archive for future analysis.
  • Analyze operational and financial data from Data Rooms.
  • Primary engineering contact for BD transactions, including communication with third party marketers. 
  • Support corporate data requests for business development opportunities.
  • Assemble, extract, and analyze data from various internal and external systems including ARIES, Spotfire, Well View, Site View, AFE Navigator and third party well data, including state regulatory and production data.
  • Assist engineers and management in the preparation of technical reports, analysis, evaluations and presentations as needed.
  • Verify appropriate Aries coding for marketing, and economic inputs. Coordinate with engineers to ensure correctness.
  • Manage all third party transfer and internal disbursement of business development materials.
  • Prepare cashflows summaries, spreadsheets and graphs for use in engineering analysis.
  • Responsible for third party organization and structure analysis of third Party Aries databases.
  • Perform moderate calculations and preliminary analysis of data in support of engineering studies.
  • Generate monthly reports based on standard procedures to provide project performance tracking and ensure accuracy of data.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or other technically related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
Skills & Knowledge
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Word) to manipulate and interpret data and reports
  • Industry experience with A&D opportunities
  • Strong data management skills with demonstrated ability to build, maintain and extract information from databases; experience with SQL preferred
  • Experience with energy industry software to include PowerBI, Spotfire, ARIES, WellView, SiteView, ProCount Suites, and AFE Navigator
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to analyze data from IHS, Drilling Info and other public data sources
  • Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to communicate regularly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, with management, coworkers, contractors, and field personnel
  • Ability to work well within team environment, coordinating efforts of cross-functional departments
  • Knowledge of the industry and operations
  • Ability to thrive in both an independent and collaborative work environment and have exceptional skills in managing multiple demands, including prioritizing deadlines
  • Ability to identify process improvements and utilize programming skills to enhance functionality

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated pay range:  $85,000 – $115,000 (DOE)
