Overview

The Area Manager has responsibility for developing, fostering and supporting a safety and process driven culture for the overall organization while leading the daily field operations including production, facilities, construction, water infrastructure, pipeline transmission, compressor activities; provides direction in safety, quality control, compliance, regulatory, operational and administrative matters. This position will be located in the Barnhart, TX field office.

Discovery Natural Resources LLC is a domestic, onshore exploration and production company with over 1,000 wells in operation in Texas.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Responsible to lead, guide, evaluate, and develop a team of support function supervisors and employees to ensure that the organization achieves its business objectives and complies with all relevant regulations and laws
  • Lead personnel and operations in such a way as to promote and maintain a safe work environment while ensuring the production of oil and gas are maximized
  • Responsible for promoting an environment that operates in alignment with Discovery’s values
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and execution that ensures enhancement of profitability, productivity and efficiency for all operation support functions
  • Responsible for maintaining an effective operational support structure to meet the needs of the business in the short and longer term while maximizing reliability and quality and minimizing cost exposure
  • Oversee the coordination of contract personnel involved in the production of oil and gas wells including service companies
  • Monitor and review daily gas production and weekly oil inventory.  Manage the review of daily production reports and work with personnel to optimize production
  • Ensuring that the efficiency and profitability of production are maximized while maintaining positive relations with the surface owners
  • Implement new technologies for production enhancement
  • Ensure Regulatory requirements are maintained
  • Design and operate locations, lease roads, and equipment at or above established Discovery standards
  • Ensure all new wells are ready for production including tank batteries, necessary personnel, rental equipment, etc.
  • Collaborate with HSE to ensure that all operators are trained and aware of how to conduct their job in a safe manner. 
  • Foster a safe working environment by determining if safety hazards exist and take appropriate action (Adhere to OSHA’s General Duty Clause)
  • Optimize production while promoting cost effective solutions
  • Lead collaborative efforts to manage projects across the organization
  • Coordinate with HSE and HR to provide safety and emergency response, and new hire orientation/training programs
  • Perform routine inspections of field leases to ensure that all policies and procedures are being adhered to
  • Support new ideas and creative solutions in an ever-changing environment
  • Provide support in developing and executing to engineering designs and procedures provided from Facility and Production Engineering teams
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 15 years, well-rounded experience in field production, facilities, pipeline, and construction operations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision and/or direction
  • Must be able to actively manage with autonomy, but possess the aptitude and experience to identify appropriately which/when issues require broad(er) corporate influence, oversight and involvement
  • Must be flexible and able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with co-workers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
